Her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California, was like "if Lilith Fair got a Gen Z reboot,” raising $10 million for various charitable organizations before the 23-year-old singer even took the stage. Despite an all-star lineup of all-women artists including Chappell Roan, Doechii, and special appearances from Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and Stevie Nicks, the mic drop moment came from Melinda French Gates. The billionaire philanthropist walked out as a surprise guest and doubled donations to $20 million on the spot. We love a multi-woman-led win. And shout out to Olivia Rodrigo for doing something different than the usual celebrity lifestyle brand launch.

There are about to be a lot fewer 18-year-olds, and colleges are panicking.

The number of 18-year-olds in the US peaked last year, and undergrad enrollment is projected to drop 13% over the next 15 years. Ten small colleges have already closed or announced they're shutting down, and even well-known schools like Syracuse University are feeling it. The upstate New York home of the Orange is dealing with an enrollment shortfall and a budget deficit as they start this school year. Meanwhile, the Ivy League and Southern state schools are still doing fine, shocking absolutely no one. Brand names and beach weather never go out of style.
