Working Girl's Guide #41: I moved in with my bf! And took my last mirror selfie ever in my old room *tears*

Plus, Apple's doubling down on manufacturing, Ross and I are spilling secrets, and I cannot. Stop. Scrubbing.

Today we’re talking NikeSKIMS, Apple’s new investment, and the perils of wearing a fitbit. Let’s get into it.

Nike and Skims are body and profit-obsessed

Not Nike looking to Skims to win over the girlies! Nike’s been struggling — sales were down 8% last quarter, and their stock is down more than 25% over the past year — and CEO Elliott Hill is hoping Skims can help them recover. Skims has been crushing it (they reached a $4 billion valuation in 2023 — that’s a lotta undies), and Nike is banking on the brand’s success with women to help it take on activewear incumbents like Lululemon, Alo, and Vuori. NikeSKIMS is apparently “body obsessed”. And coming this Spring.

Apple says they’ll spend $500 billion and create 20k jobs in the next four years

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced plans to open a factory in Texas which will focus specifically on building and housing the machines that power Apple’s artificial intelligence. The facility, which will open in Houston in 2026, will be absolutely gargantuan at 250,000 square feet. Speaking of gargantuan, they’re doubling their U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund from $5 billion to $10 billion. Sheesh!!!

Is your fitbit too hot for its own good?

Aesthetically, it is not (no hate), but literally, it might be: consumers reported overheating batteries in their fitness watches and the company ignored the complaints. They ended up recalling over a million smart watches due to burn risk, but too little, too late: now they’re paying $12 million as part of a settlement agreement. That’s okay, we’re on to Oura rings anyway!

THE BIG MOVE HAPPENED!! And TG my mom was there to capture the moment! I'm officially living with the BF and I could not be more excited. Nothing hits like a change of scenery — please expect my productivity and content to increase DRAMATICALLY (read: more appearances by my mans) in the coming weeks! Can’t wait to share our space with you all!

It’s official! And he better take those shoes off before he walks into the living room!

It was finally sunny in SF, so you bet I pulled this baby out for my first sleeveless day of the (almost) Spring, and my last mirror selfie in this now-empty room. I added a belt because I had some meetings and wanted to feel profesh. Really feeling black on white lately (and yes, I match my room). Now to ask the boyf to hang up this mirror in our new place!

End of an era

To all my fellow clean freak gals out there — this one’s for you. I’ve recently been introduced my Sonic Power Electric Scrubber, and guys… I can’t stop scrubbing. You know those commercials that show someone using a tool and suddenly their house is squeaky clean? That’s my REAL life right now. Especially in my new place because I am now obsessed with keeping it spotless (whole new personality). This tool has interchangeable brushes and sponges to tackle all kinds of surfaces, it’s lightweight, and honestly it’s mesmerizing to watch it do its thing. If you want to upgrade your life, you can purchase your own Sonic Power Electric Scrubber here. (Yes I did partner with them on this section but IT IS SO GOOD!)

This week on the pod, Ross and I are sharing some big life updates! I’m not the only one with news! We’re getting into the joys and anxieties of big life changes, talking about the murky waters of office oversharing, and dissecting which personal details are best kept private. Plus, we’re tackling the complexities of age gaps in the workplace. Stay tuned for the etiquette of wearing silk to work, Ross’s plan to put a saddle on his golden doodle (please no), and Natalie’s unique trivia skills.

So many secrets, so little time (seriously, you’ll want to listen to this)
